Masterwork/DF Hack fortress automation info. Advice also needed on item tags

Main Post:

So I've spent more time playing this game in the last couple days than I would like to admit. This mainly pertains to DF Hack now that I think about it. So far I have only used workflow, seedwatch, and autobutcher. Workflow automates the production of workshops. For example, always keep a stockpile of 30 empty barrels. With this I've automated drinks, prepared meals, barrels, bins, blocks, thread, cloth, coal, ash, sandbags, clay, ammo, and metal bars. Seedwatch tracks seed vs plant count and automatically toggles the cook option on and off for both. And auto butcher allows you to set how many male/female baby/adult animals to keep... in stock.

So here is what I can't figure out. Workflow uses tags when specifying counts on your stock. DRINKS=all drinks, BAR//COPPER=copper bars, BOULDER/CLAY 20=clay boulder, FOOD= all edible food barrels, I believe. I can't figure out where these item ID's are derived from. Is there a game file I can open, or a website that will give a list of all items (stuff) in the game, and how the hierarchy breaks down.

And as a thank you in advance, I'll share my latest project . It's a typical magma moat/retractable bridge set up, activated by pressure plates. The problem is, how do you retrieve all the good stuff that doesn't melt? This is the idea... the magma pit has a retractable bridge floor, which opens to a grate collection level bellow, suspended over a basin. Using pressure plates, the magma will automatically be pumped back up to the pit. Also the basin will need to be automatically topped off occasionally, due to evaporation on the grate level.

You can try my plugin that adds an ingame UI to workflow: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=118872.0

You'll have to upgrade to the latest version of DFHack (r2) to use it. Your title mentions Masterwork... if you're using the latest 2a version of that, this will come with it.

There are some workshops the UI doesn't handle though (like Farmers). You can find the required combinations for some of those jobs by searching the bay12 forums.

Tools & Info for SysAdmins - AD Automation for O365, IT Pro Podcast, AD Notification & More

Main Post:

Hi msp,

These have been a real hit Syadmin so I thought I post in here to see what you guys think?

It's basically a weekly collection of tools and information for IT Pro's. Here are the most interesting items that have come across our desks, laptops, and phones this week. As always, EveryCloud has no known affiliation with any of these unless we explicitly state otherwise.

A Free Tool

This tool from The Lazy Administrator automates the new user creation process for AD and Office 365 to make it quicker and easier. The tool can easily be used across multiple clients, is incredibly easy to use and offers the option of creating just an Active Directory user, just an Office 365 user—or both. The blog post explains how it works and provides download links.

A Podcast Network

Jupiter Broadcasting is a podcast network built on the initial success of "The Linux Action Show!" The network is currently home to a number of informed and entertaining shows on Linux, Open Source, Security, Privacy, Community, Development, News and Politics. Our thanks to speel for directing us to this one.

A Blog

Vinfrastructure is Andrea Mauro's blog on virtualization, cloud and storage. The author shares his knowledge as a virtualization expert and architect, system administrator on Linux and Windows OS, network and storage specialist, and teacher (both for industry and university). It was voted among the top virtualization blogs in 2017.

A Joke

A bit of fun to start your week, compliments of SonOfDadOfSam:

A programmer is going to the store. His wife says, "Get a loaf of bread—and if they have eggs, get a dozen."The guy comes back with 12 loaves of bread. His wife says, "Why did you buy so much bread?"He says, "They had eggs."

Another Free Tool

Netwrix Account Lockout Examiner provides notifications of Active Directory account lockouts and help in identifying the root cause when an account keeps locking out. User accounts can be unlocked from the tool’s console or a mobile device. Recommended by tGasMaskt "as a free tool for monitoring accounts that frequently lockout."

Have a fantastic week and as usual, let me know any suggestions in the comments.

Fyi - I've set up a new subreddit /r/itprotuesday. Where we will start featuring / encouraging some additional tools, tips etc posts throughout the week in the new subreddit. Pop over and subscribe if you’re interested.

Tools & Info for MSPS - Log Management, Automation Tool, Sysadmin Blog & More

Main Post:

Hello r/msp,

Each week I thought I'd post these MSP tools, tips, tutorials etc. These are the most-interesting items that have come across our desks, laptops and phones this week. As always, EveryCloud has no known affiliation with any of these unless we explicitly state otherwise.

**We're looking for your favorite tools to share with the community... those that help you do your job better and more easily. Please leave a comment with your favorite(s) and we'll be featuring them over the following weeks.**

Popular Repost: Tool

Graylog provides an open-source Linux tool for log management. Seamlessly collects, enhances, stores, and analyzes log data in a central dashboard. Features multi-threaded search and built-in fault tolerance that ensures distributed, load-balanced operation. Enterprise version is free for under 5GB per day.

A Tip

A helpful shortcut from starmizzle:

Create a folder named

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

to get a folder full of handy master control panel options

A Free Tool

Docker is a container runtime that runs on various Linux (CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Oracle Linux, RHEL, SUSE and Ubuntu) and Windows Server operating systems. It creates simple tooling and a universal packaging approach that bundles all application dependencies inside a container that runs on Docker Engine. Docker Engine enables containerized applications to run anywhere consistently on any infrastructure. Suggested by slacker87 "because everything is easier when it’s in a container."

Another Tool

G1ANT.Studio is RPA software that allows you to create a robot to automate any repetitive tasks. Gives you complete freedom over what can be automated. It differs from other off-the-shelf automation solutions by allowing you to integrate web and desktop apps, with no limitations and much higher performance and security. Though not actually free, it is economical for such a capable RPA software. This one was brought to our attention by cmpaxu_nampuapxa.

A Blog

Sysadmin Chronicles is a system administration blog written by Artur Tyksinski. Focuses mostly on virtualization, MSP, cybersecurity and Linux. His goal is to "have a guide for every single thing I’ve ever had to do more than once... [and to] empower other System Administrators and people working in IT with the solutions to all sorts of problems."

P.S. Bonus Free Tools

Get this week's bonus tools on the IT Pro Tuesday blog.

Have a fantastic week and as usual, let me know any comments.

Automation/Security that keeps all info on prem

Main Post:

I cannot find any systems that do this. I feel like there would be a big market for this. Is everyone OK with sending live telemetry to XYZ.com from inside their home to advise if their door is open?
If you read the privacy policy of both Insteon and SimpliSafe (I just finished), they collect that data and sell it. So advertisers (and potentially bad guys if they get hacked) know when you're home, what your schedule is, how many sensors you have. I'm betting law enforcement could easily compel them to give up this information as well.

I want a system that processes all the data on prem. If I want to control/manage over the net, either let me pay monthly (I'd be happy to) for the provider's server to act as a TLS bridge (that does not store any data) to see/control my widgets from the app, or I'll set up a VPN. Give me the option to setup the hub/server to push notifications out to the SMTP/SMS relay service of my choice. They could even include and turn on by default the option to let the provider handle it all for you, but at least give me the option.

Sorry if this sounded like a rant. I just cannot understand people security conscious enough to spend hundreds of dollars on equipment to monitor their home, but not realize they created a giant digital portal into their own home.......

Bambu Lab P1/X1 Automation, more info in the comments.

Main Post: Bambu Lab P1/X1 Automation, more info in the comments.

Top Comment: I have seen quite a few Bambu Lab automation videos on this sub and people always ask how to do it. But I have never seen a full explanation ... so I thought I would just make one myself. This is my way of giving something back to the 3D printing community I have learned so much from these past years. For those interested in automating their P1/ X1: https://youtu.be/Vxj1ii6dPYo I included start & end g-codes that you can download as well. Its all free, no sign up and only your slicer and stock parts are needed. I have been using this for almost 3 years now, you can also ask me any question in the you are interested in, and I will try my best to answer it. Hope this helps some of you out.
